Chevrolet Repair: 1990 chevrolet camaro wont start, electric fuel pump, inertia switch

Question
I have a 1990 camaro RS that wont start, the car came from california and was in an accident several months ago. The frame was bent at the front rails and most of the front outter panels were wrecked. The car wont start, you turn the key and it just makes a click. It has all liquids, the lights will work and the motor does not appear to have been hit in the accident. The motor is a 3.1L multiport. My hunch is its the inertia switch and im wondering where it is located?

Answer
1990 RS ....NICE CAR...BRADDEN ...LISTEN UP.....The clicking you hear when you turn the key is telling me that the starter circuit from the key to the solenoid is good. I will assume you have a good battery...ok..Remove the starter...Don't forget to disconnect the negative post on the battery first..Take a good size screwdriver and turn the flywheel 360 degrees. IT WILL TAKE A LITTLE FORCE ON YOUR PART TO DO THIS.. This will tell us that the engine ''can'' rotate. Get yourself a good set of jumper cables and do this. Connect the positive cable to the solenoid where the battery cable was attached and connect the other end to the positive terminal of the battery. Then connect the negative cable to the starter near where the bolts went through to hold the starter on to the engine...Now connect the other end to the battery. Take a screwdriver and touch the terminals between the cable connection at the starter and the connection where the small wire connected to the solenoid. Hold on..This should engage the bendix drive and in turn spin the starter. If it does..the starter is considered good and should rotate the engine. The inertia switch you speak of is installed to turn off the electric fuel pump in case of an impact. It really should have nothing to do with the engine ''turning-over''. Now go fix it!...Best
