Chevrolet Repair: torque specs for 1999 tahoe, torque measurements, lbs torque

Question
Can you tell me the torque specs for a 1999 tahoe 350 5.7 litre for heads and intake manifold  Thanks, Dave

Answer
Dave ...Sorry i took so long to respond. I knew there was something i had to look at before i gave you an answer. The heads have 17 bolts to hold them down. The torque can be applied in two ways.1...Torque to ''yield''. This is done by initially torquing the bolts to 22 ft.lbs. of torque and then in a three step process ..tightening the head bolts with amounts of turning ''degrees''. I think for our purposes we will do this with ''torque'' measurements. First you must understand that there is a sequence.1-3-4-6-5-etc.Looking at the cylinder head from the side of the engine the bolts are numbered as such..Bottom row..left to right 16-12-8-4-3-7-11-15..Next row up...Left to right-9-1-6-14  Next row up ..left to right  13-5-2-10..Ok here we go...Tighten the bolts..starting with number 1 ..in order..to 26 ft. lbs. Then do it again to the specs of 44 ft. lbs...Then one more time to 66 Ft. Lbs..That's it!
Now the intake...Looking from the front of the engine the bolts are numbered on the right.... front to back.....8-4-2-6   Left front to back is 7-1-3-5. We will use ''inch lbs torque these. Start with 1 and follow through the first pass with 27 inch lbs. The second pass we will torque them to 106 inch lbs...The third pass we will torque them in sequence to 11 Ft. Lbs. Hope this will be helpful.....Best
