Chevrolet Repair: RAck and Pinion on Chevy Venture 97, chevy venture, box rack

Question
My husband is under my van as I type trying to install a new rack and pinion. It has turned into a 4 going on 5 day job :( All is hooked up but when we start it and turn the steering wheel it leaks fluid. He is trying to figure out if the low or high side of the line goes to the steering box? Can you help with that? If my question makes sense at all.
Thanks In Advance,
Lisa

Answer
Hi Lisa,

I am new and am browsing through the unanswered questions from the past.  I bet your husband is not still under your van.  However, I want to try to answer your question.  Sorry it took so long.

I believe the high side will go to the steering box(rack).  In fact, I think you cannot get it wrong because of different size hoses.  The low side will be the return from the rack.

Where is the leak coming from.  If the hoses, the line may not be tight enough, or stripped.  If from the ends, the rack may be bad.

Hope this helps.  I bet you figured this out already though.
