Still unable to locate the regulator, do you have a diagram or something?  Pump is running strong, did check that already.

-----Question-----
Truck starts after about 3 tries strong smell of fuel upon start.  A quick lube shop insists it's the fuel regulator, sounds right to me.  Chilton book does not show location, shop could not find, call to chevy dealer service did not know either.  Where is the regulator located?  How hard for me to replace?  I have lost about 100 mi per tank recently.
-----Answer-----
The pressure regulator is on the left side fuel rail on the engine.

I would for sure test it before just replacing it. Test it with a fuel pressure tester.
Dirty injectors could do the same thing.

Low pressure could also be from a dirty filter, or a worn pump.

Answer
Need to test the fuel pressure with a tester. Needs the correct amount of pressure.

Also, if it has Central point injection, a tube may have split or come off a poppet, and is dumping fuel in the manifold, rather than spraying it in the intake runners.
