Chevrolet Repair: piston rings bad or not, push rod, valve guides

Question
I have a 350 engine that was mildly built and it bent a push rod just out of the blue.  The engine has always used oil from day one (quart per tank of fuel) and the machine shop would not stand behind it. I have the heads off right now and I am trying to figure out if the oil is from the valve guides or past the piston rings.  I have been told to look for a wash on the edge of the piston, but all the pistons look different and just a small spot or all the way around the piston.  Also I pulled the lifter out of the valley and it looks ok but should a new set of lifters be installed because a push rod was bent.

Answer
Hello Joe,
Since you have it that far down, it would seem to make sense to go ahead and re-ring it for comfort of mind.\
As for the lifter, no reason to replace them all.
The bent one could have been a valve hit by a piston, or the rod jump out of the lifter and pushed by the side of it due to improper installation and adjustment.
