Chevrolet Repair: 1996 chevy blazer heater core, chevy blazer, waterpump

Question
I have a '96 Blazer that blew the radiator awhile ago. My son replaced the radiator for me but now when I turn on the defroster or heat it blows cold air. I've been told that it's common to get plugged or an air bubble in the line. How do we access it or clear the bubble? Please help.

Sincerely thanks,

Michele

Answer
Hi Michele, What you need to do is flush the the heater core. To do this you need to remove both hoses from the engine. There is one at the waterpump and one at the right front of the intake manifold. Now run water through the hose you took off the waterpump, use a garden hose to push water through the heater core. After you get water to go through the core run the water through the other hose. do this a couple of times and then reconnect the hoses to the engine and test for heat. I'm sure you'll have a lot of it!!
