Chevrolet Repair: 88 gmc vandura fuel filter, gmc vandura, dad gum

Question
Ok, we have an 88 gmc Vandura Starcraft manufacturer conversion, g2500 series. My husband is on a trip to Wyoming from our home in Oregon. First thing that happened is that the van wouldn't start after it had been shut off. We primed the TBI with gas, and it would run until it burned off the gas in the carb, but it wouldn't start on it's own. Then after having set for a few hours, it unexpectedly decided to start again, only to have it die again later. So then he checked the fuses, and then replaced the electrical relays. It seemed to work for a few hours, then it quit again. I called the local shop and asked them, they said it was a weak fuel pump, so after being stuck at a rest area overnight, he went and got a new fuel pump and replaced it there in the rest area in the middle of Montana. Only one small problem... the auto parts place didn't have any fuel filters in stock and having no other option, my husband reused the old one. Well about 50 miles later, he has broke down again, same symptoms. So we started trying to figure out where the secondary in line fuel filter would be, but we aren't having much luck. We can not tell from the repair manual where to find it. Can you help us? Where do we find the dad-gum fuel filter in this thing? My husband is currently broke down on the side of the road in a construction zone 20 miles from the closest town in the middle of Montana. So please respond a.s.a.p.
Thanks for any help you may be able to give,

Answer
The only fuel filter I am aware of is under the drivers seat area, bolted to the frame, aside from the sock on the pump itself, which is more of a screen than a filter.

He may need to buy or borrow some "Noid" lights, to see if the injectors are getting pulsed voltage.
