Chevrolet Repair: Serpentine belt and tensioner, chevy suburban, serpentine belt

Question
I have a 1990 Chevy Suburban, 454 V8, 3/4 ton, 2 WD. I just installed a new belt and tensioner. The belt hangs off the tensioner about 1/4 inch and the edge of the pulley is cutting into the belt. The last tensioner and pulley were lined up with the belt. Are there different off sets in different models?

Answer
Probably are different offsets, but if you got the one that is for that truck, it should be lined up with the other pulleys.
When replacing the tensioner, there is usually a little indexing tang that must be fit into its proper slot.

Next question, is the belt routed correctly?
