Chevrolet Repair: 1992 Chevy S-10 Blazer, truck mechanic, loose ground

Question
I have owned this blazer for 5 years, with no problems. About 3 months ago the engine (4.3) started missing and slowing down at about 70 mph. The engine shut off and would not restart right away, it latter restated and ran perfect for about 15 miles, then it started missing and slowing down again, this time I noticed the windshild washers were spraying and the wiper started wiping, I had not touched the wiper switch, and the engine again died. I would not restart so I towed it home.It has restarted on and off for weeks, but I can not trust the vechile to stay running over 15 or 20 miles then it does the washer and wiper thing and dies. I have replace the ECM,I have checked all the grounds I can think of,I also have trid to use a snap-on code readerbut it will not read anything.I am a diesel truck mechanic and I am lost with this problem.

Answer
Hi Keith,
Make sure the gas cap isn't causing it to form a vacuum inside the fuel tank.

A loose ground under the dash, or from the engine to the firewall is what comes to mind with the wiper problem, unless it is the wiper control module cold solder joints you can find out about by Google searching for GM wipers.

Lack of a good ground wire could possibly cause both problems.
