Chevrolet Repair: left turn signal not working, left turn signal, emergency flashers

Question
I was recently in a very minor car accident in my 2001 Chevy Blazer and ever since then the turn signal on the left side of my car in the back has not been working along with my brake light. My reverse lights there however work fine. On the front left side and inside the car the blinker is blinking very fast. I have replaced the all the bulbs and looked briefly for loose wires. But it seems that they go up into the panel of the car where I could not get to. Any suggestions on what it might be and what I can do next would be helpful. Thanks!

Answer
Hello Kelly,
I would assume then, that the minor accident was to the left rear of the vehicle?
Sounds like a short in the wire there.
First, remove the left rear turn signal bulb from the socket....both of them if there are two bulbs.
Then try the left turn signal, and see if that made a difference in the speed of the blinking.
If it did, then make sure you are using the correct bulb for the application, and that it is being inserted in the socket correctly.

If removing the bulb has no effect on the blinking, then I would remove the light socket completely, and disconnect it, and try again, and while there, look at all the wires, to see if any are being pinched between the housing and the body when it is installed.

Another useful tool is to turn on the emergency flashers during the testing, to see if they also flash faster.
