Chevrolet Repair: 87 S-10 not running right, intake manifold gasket, vacuum leaks

Question
I got the truck running again it was the ignition control module, thanks for your help. But I am still having idleing problems, I replaced the TPS and that did nothing, so Im looking for more suggestions. Sometimes it runs pretty well but it will idle very fast, then it will surge up and down, then it will stall, I also noticed while driving sometimes it will have no power, sputter, and smoke, then it will level out and run pretty well again. Any input would be great. Thanks

Answer
Hi Paul,
I would be checking the fuel pressure, especially wanting to know what it is during the bad running spells.
Check the vacuum also. If the EGR valve is sticking open, like on some carbon, it will be a vacuum leak, and the ecm will try to compensate for the leak. That can be cleaned. But check for other vacuum leaks also, like brake booster, a/c controls, etc. Intake manifold gasket also.
