Chevrolet Repair: engine tick on startup, chevy venture, valve train

hello steve,I have recently purchased a 2002 chevy venture warner bros. edition van.it is a 3.4 L.In the morning upon cold startup the engine has a loud ticking noise that continues for about 2 minutes before it goes away.The rest of the day it does not do this.Is this a major problem that should be taken care of?I purchased the car from a dealer so I have some time to get it fixed.

Most if not all of that noise is probably coming from the valve train at the top half of the motor, at 1st startup it takes a little bit for oil to reach the top half and lubricate the valve train, however it should not take 2 minutes , if the noise is present for that period of time and not just for 10 seconds or so I would have your dealer look into the problem, it could be a more serious problem if it is as loud and long as you state, good luck and let me know how you make out
