Chevrolet Repair: air conditioning repair, chevy venture van, chevy venture

Question
I have a 1997 Chevy Venture van with 87,000 miles and am told that I need a new compressor for the air conditioning because the seals are leaking. The compressor is working fine, I am told. What would be your advise on repairing or replacing the compressor and the costs of doing this?I have had no problems with the van in the past.

Answer
My advice would be, dont fix it if it is not broken . If the AC system is working fine, I would just leave it be. The cost of this type of service can be several hundred dollars. Also be careful that you are not being ripped off, get a second opinion to see if the compressor is actually bad or leaking , worst that will happen is with the AC on it will blow warm air if it leaks out, then you will know
