Chevrolet Repair: 94 lumina egr circuit, excessive fuel, aftermarket suppliers

Question
My 94 3.1L Lumina gives a check engine light when I first decelerate while freeway driving. The light does not come on when driving on slower roads. It resets every time if you turn off and restart engine. There are no other noticeable symptoms. The code is #32. I repalaced the EGR valve with a brand new one and cleaned the passages while it was off. I still get the same light and code after I pull off of the freeway. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks BP

Answer
1st question I should ask is did you replace the EGR with an OEM unit or aftermarket ? with a part such as this OEM is the only way to go as there are several variations with aftermarket suppliers. also are you positive the passages ( all of them ) were cleaned very well ? most of the time this requires removal of the intake to do a proper cleaning, cleaning the passages from where the EGR bolts up most of the time is simply not enough. Last but not least it may not be your EGR actually causing the problem, there could be another problem simply leading to the EGR code and or failure, especially if the car is running rich or using excessive fuel ( or more than normal ) driveability issues such as this are very hard to diagnose this way, but hopefully my response can help lead you in the right direction, good luck
