Chevrolet Repair: 97 Z-71 Transmission Problems contd..., z 71, intermittent problem

Question
I have a '97 Z-71 automatic with a 350.  I have an intermittent problem with the transmission.  When the weather is warm, I lose my speedo, tach, odometer, and my tranny defaults to 2nd and 3rd gear only.  I have and alarm on the truck, which is now disconnected, which has a remote start function.  I could hit the "remote start" button when the truck messes up and power up the guages, but no 1st or 4th gear (this ignition feature of the truck connects to the Ignition 2 wire under the dash).  Since it seemed to be outside temperature related, I thought it was the computer (which is under the hood on the driver's fender), so I replaced it.  That didn't fix the problem.  A mechanic told me that it sounded like the ignition wiring harness underneath the dash.  He said something about the connector splines getting hot and widening (female splines) or getting compressed (male) and then not making a good connection.  This confuses me because the harness is inside the cab where the temperature is controlled.  If what he said is true, then it should mess up on a cold day when I have the heater blasting, but it doesn't.  So, do you have any suggestions?  That ignition harness is about $100.00 and I don't want to spend it if that's not the problem (already spent $150.00 on the computer).  I did take it to a transmission shop when it first started doing this back in January, and he pulled up just about every transmission code that could come up.  He didn't know what it was either...  he said it might be the computer.  Now I know that it's not (unless I got a bad remanufactured computer).  It's also an intermittent problem.  It doesn't do it all the time.

Thanks for any advice that you can give.  -Rob

Another one could be the tamp sensor. Read all of this one.
