Chevrolet Repair: leaking water, intake manifold gasket, head gasket

Question
I HAVE A 1999 SUBURBAN WITH APROX 150,000 MILES.
IT STARTED OVERHEATING, FOUND WATER LEAKING, WHEN I FILL THE RADIATOR IT LEAKS OUT AS FAST AS I PUT IT IN.  I CAN'T GET TO WHERE THE WATER IS COMING FROM, IT'S LEAKING DOWN AND AROUND THE BELL HOUSING AND THE STARTER.  I'VE LOOKED THRU MY CHILTON BOOK AND CAN'T FIND ANYTHING.  DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Answer
Hello Jamie,
More than likely, it is leaking from the pot-metal fitting that the heater hose connects to. A common problem. The fitting needs replaced with a regular hose barb fitting.
If that isn't the case, other possibilities are intake manifold gasket, freeze plug behind the starter, or head gasket.
I'd bet on the heater hose.
