Chevrolet Repair: 1994 camaro v-6, push rod, fuel rail

Question
I have recently replaced the lifters in my 1994 camaro 3.4 I followed the book on the lifter adjustments, yet it will not start it turns over , i have spark and fuel to the fuel rail.
i have adjusted and readjust the lifters thinking that i might have missed one somehow but nothing happens any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Joe, When you install new lifters you should always pump them full of oil before installing them. When you do this the lifter won't push down easy and you will be able to feel the push rod at zero lash. If you don't do this you need to be vary careful that you don't push the inside of the lifter down! If you do push it down, when go to turn the nut the additional turn you will open the valves. If you think this is your problem just leave them a little loose and try to start the engine. It will make a little noise but be OK. After it runs for a while you can adjust the valves.

Hope this helps
