Chevrolet Repair: My Impala is acting the donkey, coolant recovery, chevy impala

Question
Hi Van

I actually have a few questions for you based on the chevy Impala 2001.
-The Temperature guarge on the dash board keeps dropping down regardless of all the cooling system working fine and then eventually l get a check engine light
It goes away when l reset the system by releasing one terminal in the battery but now the guarge is not even moving
- My car ABS system needs repair, is that a very costly think
There is a indicator light ( Tracking system needs maintenance)
Just wanted some advice about that please

THANKS IN ADVANCE

Answer
Hello Charles,
I assume you have removed the radiator cap and actually confirmed the coolant is full in the radiator, not just in the coolant recovery tank?
If so, then I would check the wires to the coolant temperature sender, and if they are ok, check or replace the sender.
Here is a link to a good description of how important proper readings are, as well as a spec chart for testing the sensor.

First thing on the ABS system...make sure the stoplight in the rear window is working, and the bulbs are not burned out.

Yes, that system can get very expensive to work on. Check fuses, and wires to wheel speed sensors.
