Chevrolet Repair: fuel injection, throttle position sensor, fuel pump filter

Question
I have a 97' GMC 1 ton Pick-up with the 5.7 (350 Cid) Vortex engine and it is driving me crazy. It started with the fuel pump going out and wen't on from there.
I have done everyting that I can think of. I have put in a new fuel pump, filter and relay switch bled the fuel lines. The engine is getting plenty of spark and I have good pressure in the fuel line. If I put poor some fuel directly in the butterfly valve it starts right away but shuts down as soon as the gas is exhausted. The engine does not get any fuel. What should I do I am in a small town in Alaska and need to fix this as soon as possible and don't have the funds to take it to a car place it would cost over $200.00 just to get my vehycle towed to the mechanics shop. Any Ideas you can give me would be appreciated.

Answer
HI Gary, The fuel pressure needs to be at around 60 psi. If you don't have this much pressure the fuel regulator is no good. If this is good, you need a scan tool to test the output from the engine coolant temp sensor and the throttle position sensor. If the engine coolant temp sensor is giving a incorrect reading like 300 deg, the engine will not start because it will be too lean. If you disconnect the temp sensor and try to start the truck and it runs you know this sensor is bad. This also applies for the throttle sensor too, if it shows wide open throttle it will stop the injectors from firing. You don't see this very often with either sensors though. The most common thing is the fuel pump or the wiring to the pump. Be sure you have the correct pressure (60 psi)!!!

Hope this helps
