Chevrolet Repair: Electric choke, chevy silverado, electric element

Question
I am 21 and the proud owner of an 85 chevy silverado pickup short bed k10 and I have recently done an engine swap with a newer 350 and the electronic choke is not working properly the light in my dash column comes on but the choke wont work I am just wondering if there is anything other than the choke that might cause my truck to not fire when it is cold. after it warms up it is a dream and fires every time. I am just tired of taking off my airfilter and climbing up on my 35in micky thompsons to spray starter fluid to get her running.should I replace the choke?

Answer
Hi Kenny,
Sounds like an adjustment is needed.
If it has a real carburetor, with an automatic choke, it doesn't close electronically. It snaps closed by a spring when it is cold, and has an electric element to help it heat up and open sooner.
But the closing is strictly mechanical, and either just needs adjusting, or it is broke and needs replacing.
