Chevrolet Repair: Suburban, chevy lovers, emergency brake

Question
I have a 2001 2wd Suburban with 80000 miles on it.  It failed inspection because the emergency brake would not hold.  They said it's a common problem with Suburbans and Tahoes.  It makes no sense because I rarely use the brake.  Sounds like a design problem to me.  The repair is fairly expensive.  Do you know if Chevy had a recall on this?  I looked without success.  Have you ran into a similer problem?  Hope the model year is not too new and you can advise me on my problem.

Thanks --- Vince

Answer
Hi Vince,
I am aware of the condition. I have read a bunch about it, and a missing clip.
Your relationship with your local dealership could come into play, and you might get it fixed as a campaign....kinda like a recall.
I will send a link to a forum I spend a bunch of time on. That is where I heard about it.
Many of the members are service managers or mechanics at dealerships, and the rest are just Chevy lovers.
The forum is free, and very very informative.
