Chevrolet Repair: Trailer Brake Wiring, camper trailer, fuse box

Question
I need to install a brake controller for my camper trailer that I'm going to tow with my 2002 Blazer (4.3L 2WD LS 4Dr).  Is it ok to hook up the brake like to the stop lamp circuit in the fuse box?  My truck does not have the trailer brake wiring pre-installed.  Just the trailer lights/turn wiring.  So I need hot, ground, and brake.  Hot and ground are no-brainers, but "brake" is the question.

Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hi Bob,
The best controller is an inertia controller that does not tap into the hydrauloc system. That sounds like what you have.
True about the no brainer...the hot wire connects to a battery source.
The brake wire connects to the wire on the light side of the stop light switch.
Inertia actually applies the brakes, but that wire causes it to only apply them when the brakes are applied, not every time you slow down, or go down a steep hill.
The hand lever will apply whenever you move it.
