Chevrolet Repair: 1997 Chvey Blazer 4 Door 4x4 DEAD!, chvey, lock cylinder

Today I pulled up to a store and turned the vechicle off.  That when the problem started. First the key would not come out of the ingintion. No matter what I did.  Its seems that it doesn't want to go all the way back to release the key.  Next when I try to start it back up because I can't get the key out it is totally dead.  No lights, no locks, no nothing.  When I say totally dead it doesn't do anything.  The key is still in the ingintion and it will not release the key.  Any help would really be appreciated.  Thanks.  Please respond to my email.

You have one of 2 problems.

1. The key lock cylinder tumblers are jammed in the cylinder.

2. The ELECTRICAL NEUTRAL STARTER SAFETY SWITCH located under the dash ON the steering column is jammed.

There is a long metal rod that connects the # 1 item to the # 2 item as per above.

First option would be to remove item # 2 and then see IF the key will turn. If it DOES replace the # 2 item.

If it does NOT, replace the # 1 item of which requires special tools to remove the steering wheel and more special tools to disassemble the steering column in order to replace the # 2 item.
