Chevrolet Repair: 96 Blazer Hood Release, bumpy dirt road, little notch

Question
I have a 1996 4 door Chevrolet Blazer.  The hood is not popping open when pulling the hood release.  The cable is still connected to the release, and doesn't really look or feel loose, but the pop isn't there.  Any suggestions or alternative ways of opening the hood?

Thank you!

Answer
Hello Hilary,
As someone pulls the hood release, have someone else smack the center of the front edge of the hood with their hand...not quite hard enough to dent it.

You can also pull the release while slowly driving on a bumpy dirt road, but don't be going real fast.

The problem is the latch gets a little notch worn into it by the part that it clamps. Adjusting the latch mechanism once you get it open will help for a while.
Lubricate it also.
