Chevrolet Repair: starter, wire connections, loose wire

Question
1989 s10 4.3liter/getting voltage to starter but starter will not crank/will crank if i arck across contacts on starter/plerase advise

Answer
Hello Ken,
Test the voltage there with a meter, not a light. It might just be getting about 9 volts or so, which may not be enough to pull the solenoid in, whereas arcing across gives it full battery voltage.
I assume you have checked the small wire end to see if some of the wires are broken, or it is loose.

Loose wire connections back through the harness, ignition switch, neutral safety or clutch switch, etc could be where the voltage drop is.
