I HAVE A 1996 S-10 PICK UP. I AM LOOKING FOR THE DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY FOR THE PASSENGER DOOR. I WAS WONDERING IF YOU KNEW WHERE I MIGHT BE ABLE TO GET THIS PART. ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO, THE PIECE THAT FITS IN BETWEEN THE PART AND THE BODY FELL OFF. I WAS ABLE TO MANUFACTURE A PART FOR TEMPORARY USE. IF THE INDIVIDUAL PART IS NOT AVAILABLE, THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY WOULD BE OK.

Hello Laurie,
I assume you don't want to try a dealership parts department.
So a salvage yard might be what you want.
If you don't know of one, there is one in Lawton Oklahoma that specializes in Chevy only.

Beville Auto Salvage
580-248-9440
or 1-800-522-4375

I have no association with them, although I have bought a couple things from them.

Van,
Thanks for responding so quickly.. Just out of curiosity, how much would this part cost me through the dealership? Ballpark figure is ok.I just figured that going through the dealership would be a bit more costly, but seeing that it is an older model, it might be quicker than the salvage yard possibly. Laurie

Answer
Hi Laurie,
I don't work for either a salvage yard, nor a dealer.
I bought an inside door handle today for $11.oo. I don't know what they get for an outside.

I have seen occasionally where a salvage yard charged as much as a dealer on something.
Usually they get about half.

You can call a dealership on the phone and ask them. They will tell you. So will the salvage yard.
