Chevrolet Repair: 98 chevy blazer 4x4 4 door 4.3L, state vehicle inspections, chevy blazer

Question
Hi,
I had to remove a fuel line that goes from the area of the fuel filter all the way to a box in the rear, possible a canister of some type. Is it ok to replace with high pressure EFI hose and high pressure clamps? I checked the lines running along the top of the rail and they all looked ok except for this one, but does this one even run fuel through it if it is just some type of canister line? I had to drop the tank to even see the lines in the first place. Just wondering if it is an ok fix and do I have to flair the ends or not? Thank you very much.

Answer
Althoug many people do install rubber lines in place of steel lines it is NOT recommended that you do so.

REASONS:

1. Should you live in a state where state vehicle inspections are performed, Your vehicles altered fuel line would NOT be legally acceptable in order to pass the inspection.

2. should a leak develop and a fire starts and burns the vehicle, Your insurance inspector may NOT honor the claim due to the altered fuel line.

3. Should you trade in the vehicle and the next owner has # 2 problem, You can be legally SUED. This MAY or MAY NOT even be the case if you sell the vehicle AS-IS as different states have different rules and regulations for vehicle sales.

The choice is naturally up to you to decide.
