Chevrolet Repair: 350 motor & transmission, chevy silverado truck, chevy silverado

Question
My 1978 2wd Chevy Silverado truck was just totaled by someone running a stop sign.I just put a new 350 motor in it 6 months ago and had my transmission rebuilt with extra heavy duty components to handle the heavy weights I put in it. My transmission is the 350 turbo. The motor appears undamaged. I cannot afford a new truck and my insurance company says my truck is worth only $1100 because of it's age, even though it was completely taken off the frame and restored 2 years ago.I am looking at other trucks that I can put my motor and trans. into. Would you know the year ranges of a Chevy pickup that my motor and trans can easily swap into? The Chevy body style seems consistant from 1973 to about 1980, but can my power train fit into a newer vehicle? I'm looking at Cheyenne's, Silverado's, and Scotsdale's. I saw an 82 c-10 with a 350, but the owner thinks the trans is a 700 (i have no idea). Even if the truck has a 700,can my motor and trans take it's place? Can they fit into 1990's vehicles ? Is my 350 motor the same as those 5.7Ltr ones, or are there differences. Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thank You---Jeff

Answer
Hello Jeff,
My area is pretty much stock. I don't swap engines and things.
