Chevrolet Repair: hum, wheel bearings, dirt buildup

Question
i have a '01 chev 2500 hd 4x4 with 120k miles. when i go 45 to 55 mph i have a hum coming from the front of the truck. before and after these speeds it does fine. thanks for any info

Answer
Have you ADDED ANYTHING to the vehicle as far as parts or have you had ANY type of repairs made at ALL prior to this hum noise ?.

Tire wear due to brand, age and tread pattern when the tires stsrt to wear has ALWAYS been a major source of this type of noise as does certain brands of NEW tires and or if you have rotated the tires from side to side or front to back.

Other sources are wheel bearings, Brake pads that are not fully releasing from the brake rotors due to being slightly tighter against the rotor due to normal rust and dirt buildup that naturally occurs on the caliper slides.

When you hear this hum, try lightly applying the brake pedal with your LEFT foot while maintaining your speed and see if the hum changes in pitch.

Without driving and hearing this hum for myself, These are the most common.
