Chevrolet Repair: Water Pump on 350 Engine, radiator hose, peep hole

Question
Hi.  I noticed a small drip of water on the lower radiator hose.  I was advised that I needed a new water pump (water coming from the peep hole on the pump).  I still noticed the drip after the new pump was installed.  I was then told that the new water pump was defective and another new one was installed.  Still the same occassional drip.  I was then told that the second new water pump was not defective and that the drip was likely to be coming from the connection where the hose attaches to the bottom of the water pump (new hose was also installed).  I have driven the truck for the last couple of years and have not had any problems, but sometimes still notice a drip on the bottom of that hose.  Could there be an occassional drip coming from that connection and would that be normal?  It has never dripped on the ground and I am not losing any coolant ... I just wondered what your opinion would be.

Thanks,
Scott

Answer
Hi Scott, The water pump can leak just a little coolant at the weep hole and this is NORMAL. As long as your not dripping coolant on the ground there is no repair needed. They might have sold you a pump that you didn't need.

Hope this helps
