Chevrolet Repair: 89 chevy corsica heater core change, chevy corsica, rubber elbow

Question
Hi Mark,
Coolant leaking from rubber elbow at firewall in my 89 Corsica with 47,000 original miles, 2.8 V6 w. air conditioning, auto trans.  I susspect the heater core has gone.  What can you tell me about my suspicion, difficulty in changing the core, cost of part, approx. fair cost for complete job at auto repair center, possible temporary heater by-pass.  Car is in Florida so I do not need heat. thanks in advance, Tom M.

Answer
Hi Tom, Your correct on the core being bad. The core isn't that hard to change in this car, might take you 2 hours to complete. As far as pricing out the job I really don't know. It would be easy for you to call and find out yourself. Bypass the core ??  The hoses are not the same size so this could be a problem.

Hope this helps you

Have a Nice Day    Mark
