Chevrolet Repair: wont start, spark plug wire, coil wire

Question
Hello. I have a 95 K1500 with a 5.0L 305 with TBI
and 5 spd. man. trans. It died on us last night and now won't start. The engine turns over fine and you can hear the fuel pump turn on when you turn the key on. Was hoping you could give me some things to check. Thank you for your time.

Answer
Hi Craig, Well the first thing to do is remove the coil wire from the coil and check for spark. If that is good then remove the coil wire at the cap. If it ok there, remove a spark plug wire and check for spark there. If you have spark there then it must be a fuel problem. To see if it is a fuel problem spray carb cleaner into the air inlet while cranking the engine, should run or try to run. If it runs the fuel pump isn't working with enough pressure and you need a new. If you don't have spark at the plug wire, replace the cap and rotor.

Hope this helps
