after starting runs fine restarts fine if left for short periods less than 2 hrs

Answer
This has been a VERY common problem in this year vehicle.

QUESTION: (very important) Do you have ANY exhaust leaks such as an exhaust manifold gasket leak, A cracked exhaust manifold, A leaking exhaust donut gasket ?.

Chevy had a major manufacturing defect in the design of the intake manifold and if memory serves, NEW intakes were being installed FREE. Check with your chevy dealer as this fult was causing rough idle and slight driveability problems.

Back to you TEMPERATURE SENSITIVE possible faults:

1. Old original Ssark plug wires that sre absorbing moisture.

2. Condensation getting into the CRANKSHAFT sensor itself and or into the electrical connection at the sensor and or at the ignition module under the ignition coil(s).

3. Condenastion getting into the ignition module.

These are the most common.
