engine stalls out when accelerating mainly above 60 mph or up hills it seems like when the 4brl kicks in. its a quadrajet carb on a 400 sb chevy 1978

What mechanical work has been performed on the vehicle recently ?. As most problems that occur after a recent repair was made can be traced back to the area of where the repair was made.

From your description it would appear that the SECONDARIES are not opening up due to a vacuum problem or the butterflys are hitting the sides of the carb to manifold gasket.
