Chevrolet Repair: Chevy S10 Pickup starting trouble, chevy s10 pickup, spark plug wires

I have a 1996 Chevy S10 Pickup   2.2 litre   2 wheel drive      the trouble is intermittant  not starting   it will start with no trouble at times  and then other times it just seems its not getting any gas  just turns over but wont fire.  i replaced the fuel pump last aug. and had no trouble till oct. and the problem started again  i replaced the fuel pump again but no change  at times i can hear the fuel pump come on but still wont start  other times the relays in the glovebox wont click at all   i would apreciate any help or suggestions you may have    thank you

Before we can go into any great deal of diagnostic work, You FIRST need to determine if your problem is electrical or fuel related. Put an external fuel pump pressure gage in the fuel line and see what pressures you have. Also have a helper try and start the engine and check for ignition from the spark plug wires to the spark plugs.

Pull some of the spark plugs and see if they are coated with a BLACK RESIDUE at the electrode end and or are they physically fuel soaked.

Until we determine whether it is IGNITION or FUEL there is not much I can help you with.

Perform these above tests and get back to me.
