Question -Thanks for your prompt reply. I've had no repairs of any kind since I bought the car 16 months ago. It has performed flawlessly until last week when it just wouldn't start. Any other suggestions? Thank you.
2003 Malibu.Battery in good condition,all connections tight and clean. Typically,when I turn key to ACC, the THEFT SYSTEM light goes on. Sometimes the Check Engine light does too. When I turn the key to ON, those lights stay on and the clock lights up at 12:00 and starts to run. Usually,the Oil Pressure and Charging System lights will also go on.Sometimes most of the other warning lights will go on too and the fuel gage needle will register. I suspect that the problem is with the PASSLOCK system so I followed the owners manual instructions to leave the key on ON for ten minutes, turn the key off and turn to START but when I do, all the dashboard lights go out and the clock stops running and that light goes out too. When I turn the key to START,there's no clicking sound to indicate a battery problem. There's no sound of any kind. I've had no previous problems with this car. Thank you for your help.
Answer -
Have you had ANY work performed on the vehicle within the last 6 months and WHAT was done and or replaced ?. Usually problems that occur soon after a repair was made on the vehicle can be traced back to the last repair.

let me know.

Answer
You stated:m "Battery in good condition.

QUESTION: HOW did you determine that the battery is GOOD ?.

Do a test for me with the clock. Turn the ignition to the ON position and set the clock to the proper time. Wait several hours and go back and see if the clock has the correct time or does it display 12:00.

Let me know.
