Chevrolet Repair: GM Intake Manifold Gasket, intake manifold gasket, fuel pressure regulator

Question
Hi Van,
I own a 1997 Chevy K1500 4x4 5.7 V8 with 85K miles that has a leaking intake manifold gasket.  In conjunction with this repair I plan to replace all cooling system hoses, thermostat and the radiator cap.  My question is whether there are any other parts that might need to be replaced while I have everything apart (i.e. fuel pressure regulator, water pump, fan clutch)?

Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hi Robb,
The three things you mentioned would not be on my list. Might look at them, and feel for looseness in that water pump, but I wouldn't replace them just cause you are there.
I would suggest removing and cleaning the EGR valve while the manifold is off. Clean the ports also.

If that has MFI, rather than throttle body injection, it would be a great opportunity to have the injectors cleaned and tested.

Don't use silicone sealant on anything on the intake manifold unless it specifically says oxygen sensor safe.
