Chevrolet Repair: 1997 Chevy K1500 tranny leak, chevy k1500, torque converter

Question
I have a 1997 Chevy K1500 Z71 5.7 auto trans. When I bought the truck the seller told me the trans had approx. 25000 miles on rebuild.  The tranny started dumping fluid out driving home one day.  I inspected it and found it was leaking from the front pump seal.  So I pulled the tranny and replaced the seal, reinstalled tranny and its leaking from the seal again although not as bad as before.  I pulled the tranny again and checked the seal to see if I damaged it during installation and found nothing wrong with the seal. I checked the torque converter and there is a bit of wear on the shaft but nothing I think would cause a leak, but maybe Im wrong. Any ideas why its still leaking out of that front pump seal?  Someone told me the shaft might be bad and I should speedi sleeve it, could that be the problem and if so what the heck is a speedi sleeve?
Second question @ high rpm's (around 4200) there is a very distinct vibration and the battery light on the dash flickers on. Once the tranny shifts the vibration is gone and the battery light is out. It does it in all gears. Engine is said to also have only 25000 miles.

Answer
Hello Michael,
If the seal looks good, but is leaking, I would want to replace the bushing in the front end, just behind the seal.
I might also replace the torque converter. At least I would look at it closely to see if a weight may have come off.
It could be out of balance, or just the bushing worn, but a new one of each should fix ir, no matter which caused what.
The speedy-sleefe is normally used on the crankshaft where a seal has worn a groove into it and won't allow a seal to seat. It is a super thin ring of metal that presses onto the end of the shaft, and replaces the wear surface for the seal.
Might possibly work on a torque converter, but I doubt it, since it would need to be perfectly positioned in the seal area, but wouldn't fit into the bushing. If it did, the bushing is shot, and should be replaced.
When the bushing is replaced, make sure the drain hole into the transmission is ligned up, and clean.
Also, check the vent tube on top of the trans to make sure it isn't plugged up.

While replacing the torque converter, look for cracks in the flywheel, which is actually a flex plate.
Any or all of that could cause vibration and leaks.
