Chevrolet Repair: 1991 Chevy Cavelier, chevy cavelier, electric cooling fan

Hi,
   After driving for about 20 minutes, and while trying to come to a stop, the car will shake violently and die. The temperature when this happens is a little higher than usual but not real high. There seems to be a leak around the water pump area so could this be the problem? Or...?

Your vehicle could be overheating, and if you have a leak by your water pump then your water pump will need to be changed. Run the vehicle with the hood up, and watch to see if your electric cooling fan comes on. Also, you could have a tps sensor that is bad also. This controls idle.. Go with step one first...........
