Chevrolet Repair: tires, firestone wilderness, chev 1500

Question
I know you said nothing newer than 1999 but I have been online for a while and can't find the answer. I have a 2001 Chev 1500 Ext cab 4WD Z71 truck. The tires on it need replaced. The stock ones are 265/75 Firestone Wilderness A/T. I was on tire rack and liked the Firestone Destination M/T. My question is will 285/75 fit on my truck? The overall dimensions of the current tire is 31.9 inches new according to firestone. The destinations are just over 33inches according to firestone. It looks like I should have enough room for the bigger tires but wanted to check with someone else before ordering. Any imput you  have would be greatly appreciated! I forgot to mention that I have 16 inch wheels.

Answer
That difference, from 31.9 to 33 is barely over an inch, which means 1/2 inch more on the bottom, where it would touch nothing, and 1/2 inch on top.
It might rub the fender edge slightly when you are turning at an intersection with a big dip.
I have increased tire sizes on several of my work trucks, by several sizes, and the added ground clearance outweighs the very occasional rub.
Yours may never even touch.
They will change the accuracy of the speedometer, as well as the odometer.
See if they won't mount one and stick it on the front so you can turn the steering wheel, and see how close things are.
I personally like bigger.
