Chevrolet Repair: tune-up, throttle position sensor, fuel pressure regulator

Question
I have a 1988 chevy suburban 350 with throttle body fuel injection. It is running very rich and thus not very well... you can smell gas in exhaust when running.

Starts easy.... no power when driving. Runs very rough.. any ideas?

Getting tooo much fuel... what do I do..

Answer
Hi Dan,
First, take the air cleaner off, and see if some rodent made a nest in there, plugging it up.
Then the fuel pressure should be checked, to see if the pressure regulator is letting it get too high.
Check to see if the exhaust is restricted.
If none of those work, I would run some injector cleaner through it to see if they are dribbling, but you should be able to see that looking in the intake throats.
If the fuel pressure regulator diaphragm is bad, the gas could be sucked directly into the intake manifold.
Later, if those don't find it, you can theck oxygen sensor and throttle position sensor.
