Chevrolet Repair: brake light switch, chevy van g20, brake light switch

Question
I repaced my brake light switch under the sterring colom and now i have brake lights but my problem is i cant get it out of park to drive it.. I had to lower the stearing colom again and then i could change gears.. but when i put it back together again i had the same problem. if i put it in park it wont disengage to go to drive. can you help me?  i have a 1995 chevy van G20 V-6

I don't know what the problem is, but it would seem that the moving of the column caused it, so that is where I would concentrate.
I wonder if it rotated slightly, or moved up or down due to the slotted holes enough to change the linkage adjustment, or the adjustment on the shift intarlock.
Wish I knew more about them, but I just haven't needed to work on that problem.
Look at the bracket though, and see if the bolt heads are in the same place.
