Chevrolet Repair: Short in System, alternater, driving at night

Question
Hi
I have a 87 Caprice...For some reason When the car sits overnight or at work the battery drains...I had the alternater checked and one I jump the car the battery holds the charge...also when I am driving at night me lights tend to flicker to really bright then back to normal...HELP ME

Answer
Hi, First if your lights are going  from bright to normal then either you have a bad connection (which is not common) or your alternator is no good. As for your battery going dead over night, the best thing to do here is take a look at the car at night and make sure ALL the inside lights are going out and not staying on. Be sure to check..visor lamps, glove box, dome, and under hood and trunk lights.  If all lights go out I would replace the alternator to start with.

Let me know what you find out
