Chevrolet Repair: 2001 Chevy Tahoe, chevy tahoe, chevy dealership

Question
While stopped with my foot on the brake i'm getting a vibration when the a/c compressor kicks on. The vibration is a low steady vibration as long as the compressor is engaged. There is also a low noise associated with the vibration. The service writer at the local chevy dealership told me that this is a common occurence with Tahoe's and that he has a 2003 that does the same thing. Any input will be greatly appreciated. I find it hard to belive that you have to feel vibration in the vehicle every time the a/c compressor kicks on. Thanks   Billy Edwards

Answer
Hi Billy, No you shouldn't have feel a vibration when the a/c is on. Without seeing the truck I would say that the compressor is bad. The only other thing that can cause a vibration is a bad bearing in the belt tensioner for the compressor. If you have warranty on this I would want the compressor replaced for sure.

Let me know how you make out
