Chevrolet Repair: Shifting out of park, coloum, brake switch

Question
I am having trouble shifting out of park.
When i put the vehicle from park to any gear.I cannot move the shifter. Is the a problem in the steering coloum or in the trans. Could it be a problem with the brake switch. cause it say you must have your foot on the brake to shift from park. and i have receintly had the brake switch replaced. If that is the problem is there a way to bypass it?

Thanx dave

Answer
Hi Dave,
Don't try to bypass anything, for your, and everyone elses safety.
My first guess would be to turn the steering wheel a little to take the pressure off.
Then, if you think it is the brake interlock, take it back where you had it worked on, and let them adjust it correctly. That is part of the job.
