Chevrolet Repair: no four -wheel drive, drive shaft, z 71

truck is a 1997 z-71.  while off roading today my 4x4 indicator light blinked and then went off.  i had no 4 hi or 4 low. i got stuck! the front drive shaft was engaged, because i couldn't turn in by hand.  the front tire turned free-wheel when i jacked up one tire.  does this sound like a solenoid/electrical problem to you? friends told me gm uses some kind of heat switch to activate the front diff.  thanks in advance.

Hi Carlton,
There is an "Actuator" on the right side in front of the axle housing. But it sounds to me like you may have jerked the wire connector loose. They have it in a kinda vulnerable location right behind the right front axle tube.
If the wires look a little pinched, check the 4X4 fuse.
