Chevrolet Repair: How many quarts of transmissions fluid does my van take, clutch discs, chevy van

Question
I have a 1994 Chevy Van with a 350 fuel injected engineThe vehicle has 113000 miles It is a C-20 converted Van.
Two weeks ago I had the transmission fluid and filter changed at the time of service the tech. put 14 quarts of fluid in the trans. The next day I checkedit and their was nothing showing of the dip stick I only drove a couple of miles. the following day I checked it again after the trans warmed up and again their was nothing on the dip stick, again I added another quart of fluid. After driving about 8 mile I lost drive and second gear. I loped home in low gear, after getting home I checked reverse and the van backed up with no problem. Has the transmission gone out or the torque converter gone out or does the trans take mor fluid? Thankyou for your help

Answer
The Chevy transmission can NOT be driven very far with low fluid without causing damage. The clutch discs burn up.
Add fluid, check it, add fluid, check it, etc. till it is in the safe area. Then check some more, and often for a couple days.
The owners manual could tell what it should take, unless an oversized pan was installed, and a large fluid cooler.
Hopefully it isn't too late, but don't drive it until you get that fluid level up there.
