Chevrolet Repair: Suburban door latch, door latch, chevy suburban

Question
I have a 96 Chevy Suburban, and the rear left door latch has
gotten stuck up in a position that prevents the door from
closing. The latch can move backward into the door, but
won't come forward to open up. I've been poking around
trying to find a release mechanism in the door, but can't
get a handle on it yet. This has happened before in the
front passenger door and I've been able to trip the
mechanism after a little searching, but I can't find it on the
rear door. Any idea what I could do to get the latch open so
I can shut the door?

Answer
is it closed? if so the insert a screwdriver and pull the handle like opening a door and it should open. next lube that sucker so you know it wont stick, next check for any kind of rubing or something causing it to stick. if not the prob might be inside the door. hope this helps some. let me now how it turns out
