Chevrolet Repair: 4X4 Transmission, chevy blazer, chevy 4x4

Question
Hey Van,

Here's the deal...I drive a 1994 Chevy 4X4 Chevy Blazer/Tahoe (Full Size 2 dr.)  The transmission is acting very strange.  I've lost first gear, and overdrive and when I shift into drive from reverse (as if I'm leaving a parking spot or so...) the truck acts as if it wants to lunge forward.  I was driving on the loop here in Lubbock, Texas and I tried switching into overdrive and no change was made in the RPM's or anything.  And when I am leaving a stoplight/sign, it definitely is not in first gear, due to the fact of the sluggishness and the truck not switching gears to almost 45-50 mph.  I am driving back home to Odessa soon and I need to know what to do without an overdrive.  Help please!  Thanks a lot!   Landon Kyker

Answer
Hi Landon,
I am not a transmission specialist, but if the engine isn't running up to par, such as a vacuum leak, or low fuel pressure(filter, pump, etc), then it could seem like the transmission, but be a power problem.
Obviously, fluid level and condition in the tranny should be checked, and, yes...it could be a tranny problem.
Just some ideas.
