Chevrolet Repair: Wiper Problems, torx head screws, rainy weather

Question
I have a 1997 Blazer with 41K actual miles that has a wiper problem.  During rainy days I can not get the wipers to work properly.  If I turn them to intermittent, they go directly to the low speed setting and are on continuously.  They will go to high and back to low, if I change the settings, but when I go back to intermittent, the wipers simply stay on low.  When I hit the “clean” cycle, the wipers will cycle back and forth about four or five times and then stop somewhere in the middle of the windshield.  They will not return to the stored or lower windshield position.  Once I pull into the garage and shut them and the Blazer off, they will stop somewhere other than the lower position.  But when I come out, say in the morning and start the Blaser up, they will then lower to the stored position.

This problem does not occur in dry weather.  I can hit wash cycle and once they perform this function, or any other setting, they will store where they belong.

Is there a control module near the cowl that might be getting wet in rainy weather, causing it to somehow short out?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Peter

Answer
Hello Peter, The first thing to do is replace the module. This part is screwed to the wiper motor with 3 torx head screws. They did have a recall on this part so you might want to contatc your local dealer to see if your truck was/is one the is involved. You might get it done for free!!
